TRAINING ESSENTIAL OR EXPENSE

Training: Essential or Expense?

Is Training: Essential or Expense? I get it!

Particularly with the cost of living squeezing our margins, investing in training is a hard decision. However, small, well-chosen investment in training will have your business outperforming your competition and improve your bottom line.

So how do you get the right balance when you run a Small / Medium Business (SMB)?

Forget what it is like in Corporate World! They have huge budgets, an inhouse training team and Learning Systems. As a small business owner myself, I am looking for high impact, low cost methods of development, blended with reasonably priced solutions. It is doable and you don’t need a huge budget to get started.

Out top tips for Big Business Training on an SMB budget are:

1.) Recordings:

  • Record yourself or a team member doing a process using your video meeting software. Teams/Google Meet/ Zoom all have share screen and record functions. Use them to create 1 to many training videos.

2.) Team Shares:

  • Our teams are constantly learning. Build it into your team meetings. Impact HR has “brains trust” when we share a question that we’d like more input into for best practice or latest research to be shared. We also talk through case studies of what has worked and celebrate our successes while sharing the learning. Everyone present at the meeting is learning and exploring new options.

3.) Impact HR’s SME focused Training:

  • With 15 years of experience, serving more than 150 different clients, we listen carefully to the themes and design training suitable for you and your managers/teams. We also get the cost and time barriers to attending training.

Corporate style training, with you and your business in mind. Great for employee retention and engagement.

4.) Association Webinars:

  • Most of us are part of a sector that has a peak body. Those peak bodies normally share education on a regular basis for a low or no cost basis for members.

5.) Reading Time:

  • With more than 20 legislative changes in the HR space just this year, there is a constant need to up-date our knowledge. It is the same in every industry. Set aside at least 20 minutes a week to read a relevant blog, article, industry up-date. Personal development is essential to wellbeing.

Selecting a combination of training options and encouraging your team to engage with them is essential to a strong bottom line and stay ahead of the competition. The added bonuses are employee engagement and wellbeing. Explore our training options today!
